My Favorite Philosophy

"Live a good life.
If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life and will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

The many and wonderful ammounts of you

You wake up. You're the morning you. You go to school. You're the school you. You go to lunch, and you're the lunch you. You go home, you go on a date, you hang out, you go to your job, you go to your room. Every single one of these places produces a new type of you. You may not notice, others may not notice, but you're always different in correlation to whom you're with and where you are. I'd like to think that there's just one me. No matter where I go, or who I'm with, wouldn't it be nice to have only one me? Take it or leave it? That's the kind of thing I hope people are striving for. You're always taught to be yourself. Live your life and make it your own etc. but very few actually take these words to heart.

So next time you're faced with a task, I urge you to take it head on and above all, be yourself at your core at all times. Don't be afraid to take chances. Don't be afraid to make a mistake. Swallow your pride, throw your ego away, and just be you.

Space and the feeling of insignificance.

Space always makes me feel so tiny. Do you know how big we are compared to the earth? Then compare our earth to the sun! And even that's not as big as those red giant stars! Gaah! I always feel so inconvenient when I think about space and how incredibly, unimaginably huge it actually is.

I liked space camp. It was fun. You're never too old for space camp! I've always secretly wanted to be one of those guys who gets to take a cat into zero gravity air ships... Cats are funny in Zero G, they always land on their feet, but when they don't know which way is up, they go crazy! Oh to be those guys.

Learn to blog (tl:dr)

Man, it's really hard these days to focus on one task for a long time. At least for me, but I think it's safe to say that in this generation, where iPods and txt msgs are popular, you only have to spend .7 seconds reading a smiley face with a "lol" next to it. What bugs me on these blogs is that I'm seeing these really really long posts, and I'm sure they're all really great, but tl;dr man. Too long; Didn't read. I'm not trying to be rude, but that's the truth. People see a huge post and say "holy crap, umm, skip."
If you want your posts read, put some pictures in there, or just make it shorter! You can still be creative with a small post. Don't worry.

Fear Of The Dark

I'm not scared of most things. In fact I'd say I'm afraid of fewer things than most people. Sharks still freak me out, but that's not the point. I'd like to talk a little bit about social fears. Fears about being judged. Everyone's looking at you, everyone's forming an opinion, everyone cares. Those were the thoughts I used to deal with every single day of my young life. The only joy I could ever find was those 4 hours a day I got to sit in my room all alone with my video games, or my homework, or some other mindless activity I could do all alone.
I'd like you to take that previous thought and just tweak it a little bit. This is what everyone should actually be thinking.
No one's looking at you. No one's forming an opinion. No one cares.
Now, I'd like to talk about the more conventional viewpoint about fears. The root of all fear is because you're uncertain of something. Fear of the unknown. Our minds grab onto these little thoughts and expand them to drastic proportions to the point in which we actually are scared of something. Consider this: We all coexist together don't we? We all expect one another to stay sane right? But really, all it would take is someone to mentally snap, and go on a killing spree as we're in class writing/reading these blogs! You could be killed in 4 seconds from now by someone who just can't take it anymore. Are you scared now? Of course not! You can probably see that this fear is totally irrational, but it's the type of thing I think about all the time.
I have a different approach to fears than our teacher. You see, fears are just the ability of the brain to tell your body stories. When you get scared, that's just your brain telling you a scary story. You want to know why I'm still scared of the dark? My brain says, "Hey, there's someone over there in that dark corner. He has a knife you know. He's probably going to try to kill you." Guess what brain? You did it! You made up that story all on your own didn't you? I love you so much.
My fears are what tell me I still have independent, free, creative thought. Looking back on it, I wish my brain would've gone into greater detail about this man.

Too much

Well, I do believe that I've under-stayed my welcome. I've let three blogs slip through my forgetful fingers and now I'm even more discouraged than I was a week ago. I'll try to do better. I'll try to actually write things, and even if they suck, at least I'll learn from my mistakes. My first mistake was not writing these blogs on time!! I'd like to think I've learned from this, but I probably haven't. Fool me once right?
One thing I have noticed (not LEARNED exactly) is that my blog posts are all vaguely the same. I have a tendency to take these prompts a little bit literally, when in fact, Nelson actually tells us to write about "Whatever". I wonder if I'm still doing it right. I'd like to think that my blog is my own, when really, I'm still held down by the shackles of social convention. I'm still too shy to actually post what I feel. Yeah, yeah there was the love post, but that's really the only one I've actually felt and believe in what I was writing. I feel like I'm being a fraud.
Here's to a new resolution. Here's to writing more of what I feel. Here's to writing more often. Here's to commenting in people's blogs. Here's to us!
Here's a picture.
